Killing Floor 2 Taking Forever To Download
- #ane
I but bought this game today afterwards watching quite a few gameplay videos of it online and decided that it'due south a game that would be well worth my money, well it seems I was entirely wrong as this game is bogged down by tons of technical problems.
First of all I can't detect any servers inside the game, I can simply find servers outside of the game in the Steam carte, View > Servers which is pretty annoying, I've tried most of the fixes in the support thread for this problem too and nothing works.
The main thing that is irking me though is the fact that it literally takes me longer to download a 40mb map than it does for me to download an unabridged game, the download speeds are INCREDIBLY dull on every unmarried server that I try playing on, and it seems every server is using custom maps. Even if I let information technology sit there and download for like a one-half hour I cease up DC'ing at some point anyway probably due to the fact that the server changes the map in the midst of me downloading.
I've verified my cache files twice at present for both KF and KF Mod: Defence Alliance ii and I'm still getting the aforementioned bug, I've changed the settings in my .ini file equally recommended in the stickies, null is working and I'k actually frustrated as I've never had this much trouble with a game I only bought, I haven't even played it yet! Assist would exist greatly appreciated as I'm heavily debating getting my first Steam refund.

Take yous changed the net settings in the options card?

Have you changed the cyberspace settings in the options card?
Yeah, I've tried this in various different means (checking the cheque box on and off with unlike speeds selected) with no success. I've had the game for two days now and take yet to play a single match, I've never had this much problem with a Steam game...
:EDIT: Would too like to add that on very rare occasions (probably like five-10% of the time) I can really download the map very apace, but right afterwards I end upwards downloading a file called kf_gore_trip_sm and this file goes about 0.1% every 5 seconds, I've even waited for this file to download and it ended up going over 100%... I've read that this can be a compatibility upshot between the server and client, simply I'1000 pretty certain my client is up to date as I just downloaded the game (and verified the enshroud 4 times now, also i consummate re-install) and it happens on every unmarried server I join where I can actually download the map at a reasonable speed, surely not every server is out of date, right? I'grand at a loss as to what the problem could be here... I've already submitted a ticket to Steam only have yet to receive a reply, if this keeps up I'll definitely exist trying to get a refund, this is only absolutely preposterous for a game that's been out for 4 years.

If y'all are downloading kf_gore_trip_sm, then either you or the server admin do not have an upwards-to-date installation.
If this happens to a lot of servers, so it's probably you. For some reason Steam isn't updating your game files correctly. Look in the C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\killingfloor\StaticMeshes for the file kf_gore_trip_sm.usx and delete information technology. Then verify the game cache again.
If information technology still gives you lot the wrong file (IE: Multiple servers still try to transport it to you) then let me know and I'll toss the current version on a web server so y'all can download information technology.
Cheers and then much, this was the only thing that worked and I finally got to play my first friction match! That file must have somehow got corrupted during my installation and verifying without deleting it for some reason doesn't set up it. But thanks, I greatly appreciate it! I'm enjoying the game quite a bit.
